Organisational Zoo Card Offer
Posted by webmaster 29 March 2007
The CIN has 18 sets of “Organisational Zoo” cards to give away to members who would like to practically apply them at work in a team related activity. The cards which are based on the best selling book of the same name have wide application where people need to work more effectively with colleagues, stakeholders and team members.
The cards come with instructions for two initial games. Animal Introductions, an ice breaker/team building exercise which can be used to increase your understanding of one another, and a Network Diversity game where you can assess the level of diversity you have within your network or team. This game is used to increase the level of awareness of behavioural needs and how to structure your team around the required behaviours.
For those who would like a deck, it will be a valuable exercise for you to share the purpose to which you’ll put these cards for the benefit of the wider network.
Accordingly, to obtain a deck simply be one of the first 12 people to use the Comments function below to: a) state what area you work in and b) describe the purpose you intend to put the cards to.

Hi there
I work in the Policy Group at DPI and I’d like a pack of the cards as we have a team planning day coming up and as we have a large percentage of new starters I think this would be a fun way to break the ice and learn a bit about each other.
Cheers
Jacinta

I work in Education and I have bought and read (part of) the book. I think the cards would be used for team building exercises, in facilitation sessions and with friends.

I work in an executive director’s office and there are often strategic planning events. These cards should be useful, both for education and promoting interest in related issues.

I work in the Department of Justice in the Strategy Planning area and I would like to use the cards in facilitating some sessions with various teams as a way of identifying behaviours in a non-threatening manner and advocating good behaviours in the workplace.

I manage a team of 9 and although we work well and collaboratively together, understanding individual differences, and how this can impact on the way we work together would help to improve team cohension and cooperation.

I have just started with the Human Resource Department with Victoria Police. I am working with a team of continuous improvement consultants developing processes and training for HR practitioners across the state. By the end of April we will have commenced our 2007 training program for the HR practitioners, we will be running training regularly throughout the year. It would be great to add the Organisational Zoo cards to our training activities, providing some variety and learning opportunities for our participants.

I manage two groups in learning and development. One of which is a new team and formed for the purpose of a specific nine-month project; the other a long-standing (but growing) team of L&D consultants who devise and implement training and development strategies. It would be useful to use these cards internally for each team and to examine the interface, and potentially to use them in the training we deliver.

I would love a set for Improving Justice for possible future work and team building. I have read most of the book now and really enjoyed it – as you read about each character you automatically picture the people who fit into each. Will be a great learning activity for many people. Thanks for a great read, kept smiling all the way home on the train!

Hello,
I work in HR for Victoria Police – and part of my job involves conducting research for Leadership Development Programs. Areas such as personality types, team scenarios and so forth, and it appears something like this might be suitable to our area.
I wonder does this set cater for different generations…
Thanks

I work in the office of small business. I’m repsonsible for training local councils, small business and other governemnt agencies on how to use the interactive tools on the business victoria website. These would be fabulous to implement into my training program to assist in breaking down barriers and encouraging people to get to know others in the training group.

I wanted to know where can i find the book to purchase?
The cards look great, and I will be trying them out next week on my team meeting – but it would be a great follow up down the track, to get the book and find out further information !
Thanks

I work in the Organisational Capability Unit at DHS and think there would be lots of opportunities to use these cards. For example, we are currently reviewing our people management training and resources and it would be great to be able to build this in.

I am a Business Development Officer with Consumer Affairs. Apart of my role is staff development and training and I believe these cards would be very beneficial for training purposes.
