Innovation thoughts from Canada

I just returned from Melbourne Australia and want to share some insights into public sector innovation. I did workshops for the innovation team at the Department of Sustainability and Environment. Its focus is fantastic – helping an organization of 2700 people to be more innovative on a day-to-day basis as well as improving the quality of strategy work done by the Department.
At a whole of Govt level there is a long established network driving continuous improvement and innovation. You can study its website for ideas. This is impressive work. The Victorian Public Service Continuous Improvement Network includes 3440 members across the Victorian Public Sector.
The network has just purchased 40 copies of I am an Idea Factory to use an incentive gift for their network impact evaluation that is currently underway and their weekly online lateral thinking puzzles. I look forward to again sharing some knowledge and collaborating with my Victorian public service colleagues when I am back in Melbourne in August.
Post provided by Ed Bernacki who has also forwarded on some interesting reading about why it is now time for truly innovative ideas and why every organisation needs an Innovationalist.
